F
Horn Scales: The scale sheet lists two different octaves
fir the Cb/B Major scale. The range written for the Cb scale is correct
for both (i.e. the B major scale example is written an octave too high;
the lower two octaves should be played). Alto Saxophone solo: The Alto Saxophone solo should be played in the audition with the written articulations, or lack thereof. Students should be prepared to play what is written on the page. |

Violin: For the purposes of this audition, the “First Movement” of the Accolay Concerto #1 in a minor will start at the beginning and conclude at the key change to A Major, at the bottom of page 5. |

Clarification
on notation for the Trumpet solo Concone
Lyrical Studies #29: 1) The notation in the Concone studies deals with layers of phrasing and articulation in an effort to provide the most lyrical and musically appropriate interpretation possible. Therefore: when one layer of slur/marking is present, it should be assumed that this applies directly to articulation. When two layers are present (i.e. mm 16 and 17, where the triplets are slurred under a larger slur line) the layer directly in contact with the notes dictates articulation and the larger line indicates phrasing. 2) The staccato markings at the ends of phrases indicate a “lift” 3) The “a piacere” section qualifies as a cadenza and is therefore exempt from the audition. |

In the Alto Saxophone solo: Movement III (Larghetto) – the rhythm in measure 2 of the solo part is incorrect. The rhythm should be the same as the rhythm in measure 1; this rhythm is written correctly in the piano accompaniment. The correct notation also appears below:
