District 7 Chorus Audition Information

PENNSYLVANIA MUSIC EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION
POLICY STATEMENT: FEMALE TENORS
(April, 2005)

There is strong clinical evidence that the practice of allowing young, adolescent females to sing exclusively in the lower vocal register may inhibit the development of the upper vocal register and in some cases, cause physical damage. Therefore, the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association strongly recommends that female singers audition as soprano or alto singers for PMEA District Chorus festivals. However, if a female wishes to audition as a tenor, she does so at her own risk. A consent form relieving the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association of liability must be signed by the student’s parent or legal guardian.

Click here to download the release form. Please complete it and return it to the PMEA Executive Office immediately, in order for the student to be allowed to participate in district auditions.
