LIVE Audition: January 23, 2009 - 5:00 p.m. at Central York High School. "Bad Weather" Date: January 26, 2009 - 5:00 p.m. at Central York High School. Directions to Central York HS are accessible by clicking on the link above. |

Repertoire: |
The audition materials are similar to the PMEA All-State Jazz Ensemble Auditions. The All-State requirements will be listed in the Fall 2008 PMEA News. The District 7 requirements are accessible by clicking on the Repertoire link below. |

Eligibility: |
Students currently in grades 9-12 are eligible to audition for District 7 Jazz Band. Students must be in good standing in their High School Jazz Band. Students currently in grades 9-12 are eligible to audition for District 7 Jazz Vocal Ensemble. Students must be in good standing in their High School Choir. |

Instrument: |
Students may audition on one instrument only. The following instruments will be considered for district jazz band: saxophone (alto, tenor, baritone), trumpet, tenor trombone, bass trombone, tuba, guitar, piano, bass (electric and/or acoustic), drum set and vibes. Students auditioning for the vocal ensemble will select the appropriate voice part for the audition. |

Students: |
No student will be permitted to leave the building until the completion of all auditions at which time they will leave with their director or appointed chaperone. Local students and students with special circumstances desiring to leave auditions early must complete the permission form provided in this newsletter. The form must be given to the President or his designee at the beginning of the directors meeting prior to the auditions. |

Fee: |
$5.00 per student. In addition, a participation fee of $25 per school will be assessed. Include fees with the registration form. Make checks payable to PMEA. |

Evaluation: |
The scoring system and rubrics approved for District Jazz Band and Vocal Ensemble Auditions will be used. |
|
Bands: |
Students will be divided into two bands based upon their overall scores. One vocal ensemble will be formed for the festival. |
|
Director: |
Director must be a current member in good standing with PMEA/MENC. |
|
Director Approval: |
Directors must sign the application form to indicate all auditioning students meet the eligibility requirements. In addition, the signature indicates that the director will make every effort possible to insure auditioning students are prepared. |
|
Director Attendance: |
Directors must attend the entire evening of auditions. There will be a general meeting at 5:00 p.m. and a second general meeting immediately following the conclusion of all auditions. Directors are required to attend both meetings. Directors will be asked to judge, chair a room, or assist in other ways. Assignments will be mailed with the confirmation of your registration materials. |
